A Peace That's Mine by Ileana Burdine
Sitting at my desk
Wasn't I here just yesterday
It's the same, same, same
I look out see
The desperation thicker than the smog
It just feels wrong
A shadow on my shoulder
I can feel it out there
A yearning for something more
It's a quicksand that I wade through
All the cries that I try to ignore
Nobody here 'cause they're satisfied
A pull, a need, a want, a drive
And I look for a peace that's mine
Sitting in my car
A sea of red Moses couldn't part
And miles to go
I look up in hope but
Every star in the sky's been wished away
By dreams and pain
A heart beats and a soul bleeds
I can feel it out there
A yearning for something more
It's a quicksand that I wade through
All the cries that I try to ignore
Nobody here 'cause they're satisfied
A pull, a need, a want, a drive
And I look for a peace that's mine
